Lady Indians Softball Falls in District 3-A Semis to Lady Bulldogs

The OHS Lady Indians rallied early, but Wartburg used late push to pull away to move the Lady Indians to the consolation bracket.

Oneida Lady Indians couldn't keep up with Wartburg Central Varsity Lady Bulldogs and fell 14-4 on Monday at Wartburg.

Wartburg Central Varsity Lady Bulldogs jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, and Shelby Kelly homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Jolie Duncan led things off in the circle for Oneida Lady Indians. The starter gave up 15 hits and 14 runs (six earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Kelly stepped in the circle first for Wartburg Central Varsity Lady Bulldogs. The pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out eight and walking three.

Everleigh Duncan led Oneida Lady Indians with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Kamryn Lee and Duncan each collected two hits for Oneida Lady Indians.

Wartburg Central Varsity Lady Bulldogs tallied 15 hits in the game. Bradlee Sexton went 4-for-5 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Kelly, Lillie Swint, and Presley Morgan each collected multiple hits for Wartburg Central Varsity Lady Bulldogs. Wartburg Central Varsity Lady Bulldogs ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.
